Rescuing Hope: Journey from the Streets to Nsansa Village

Rescuing Hope: Journey from the Streets to Nsansa Village

In the bustling streets of Lusaka, where life’s harsh realities often collide with the dreams of the young, a chance encounter with a 13-year-old boy would forever change the trajectory of his life. The Nsansa Village Community Development Mission team stumbled upon the boy during their street outreach program, discovering a tale of struggle, addiction, and lost childhood that moved their hearts. This is the inspiring story of how one small act of compassion can transform a young life and bring hope to countless others boys.

On The Streets

The boy’s journey to the streets was a heartbreaking one. Sent by his family to sell firecrackers in town to earn money for food, he found himself ensnared in circumstances beyond his control. The harsh realities of street life took their toll, and he soon became addicted to bostic, a dangerous and potent solvent that offered fleeting solace from the pain of hunger and cold.

A Ray of Light

Amidst the darkness of the boys circumstances, the Nsansa Village team brought a ray of light. Discovering him on the streets, they witnessed the physical and emotional wounds he carried. A burn wound on his head and left hand bore witness to the perils of his daily existence, a poignant reminder of the tragedy that had befallen this young soul.

With compassion as their guide, the Nsansa team rescued the boy from his medical emergency. Their mission extended beyond just physical healing, for they knew that to truly change his life, he needed more. The team offered him a safe haven within Nsansa Village, where he could receive the love, care, and education that had been denied him in the harsh realities of the streets.

One Child at a Time

This boy’s story is not unique. There are countless children like him, robbed of their childhood and burdened with responsibilities far beyond their years. The Nsansa Village team recognizes that they cannot change the world overnight, but they are committed to making a difference, one child at a time.

The Power of Compassion

The boys transformation is a testament to the power of compassion and dedication. With the unwavering support of the Nsansa team, he is slowly reclaiming the innocence that was stolen from him too soon. Their love and guidance provide him with a chance to rebuild his life and embrace the joys of being a child once again.

While the boys story is one of hope and resilience, it also serves as a call to action. There are still thousands of children like him, desperate for a lifeline to escape the clutches of the streets. Nsansa Village aims to expand its reach, offering shelter, education, and healthcare to as many vulnerable children as possible. Through the support of compassionate individuals and organizations, they hope to create a brighter future for those who need it most.

As the Nsansa team continues its mission to uplift the lives of vulnerable children, they invite everyone to join hands in this noble endeavor. Together, we can give hope, joy, and a future to those who deserve it the most

Expanding Horizons: Nsansa Village Community Development Mission Acquires New Land

At Nsansa Village Community Development Mission, our commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children is unwavering. As we continue to grow and serve more children in need, we have encountered a pressing challenge - limited space. Our boys' dormitory is at full capacity, and expanding our charitable efforts has become increasingly difficult. To overcome this hurdle and create more opportunities for the children we support, we are thrilled to announce our acquisition of new land. This milestone opens up a world of possibilities, but we need your funding and support to turn our vision into reality.

Unveiling Our Projects for the New Land:

  • Fencing the Land: Our first priority is to secure the new land through wire fencing. This will safeguard it from encroachment and provide a safe and protected environment for the children.
  • Water Access and Solar System: Ensuring a sustainable water supply is crucial. We plan to drill a well and install a solar water system, ensuring a reliable and eco-friendly source of clean water for the entire community.
  • Construction of Dormitories and Facilities: To accommodate more children and expand our reach, we aim to construct dormitories with showers, toilets, a kitchen, and a dining room.
  • Classrooms and Counselling Rooms: Education is a cornerstone of our mission. We plan to build classrooms that will provide a conducive learning environment, enabling children to acquire knowledge and skills essential for their future.
  • Discipleship and Skills Training Center: We believe in nurturing the spiritual and personal growth of the children. Our vision includes establishing a dedicated center for discipleship training, where they can learn about faith, values, and personal development. Furthermore, we aspire to create a skills training center, equipping the children with practical skills that will empower them for a brighter future.
  • Staff and Volunteer Facilities: To ensure the smooth operation of our mission, we plan to build a staff house and volunteer accommodations. These facilities will provide a comfortable living space for our dedicated team and volunteers, allowing them to focus on their vital roles in supporting the children.
  • Sick Bay: Healthcare is of paramount importance. Establishing a sick bay will enable us to provide immediate medical attention and care for the children, ensuring their well-being and addressing any health issues promptly.

The acquisition of new land marks a significant milestone for Nsansa Village Community Development Mission. However, we cannot achieve our ambitious plans without your support. Our immediate priorities include wire fencing, drilling a water source, and constructing dormitories for the children. Your generous contributions will help us create a safe and nurturing environment where vulnerable children can thrive. Join us on this transformative journey as we expand our horizons, uplift lives, and provide hope for a brighter future. Together, we can make a lasting impact in the lives of these deserving children.

Zambia Police’s Women Network Airport Division visits Nsansa in celebration of Women’s Day

Yesterday Nsansa was privileged to be visited by the Women’s network from @Zambia Police Airports Divisional Headquarters as they marked the celebration of women’s day by giving back to the vulnerable members in the community. The police interacted with the boys, stressed the effects of drug abuse not only to the individual but to society at large. We also received a donation of mealie-meal, books, blankets and various other food supplies.

Nsansa is appreciative for the support and the help from the police department. Once again we would like to thank the police for the support and we continue to wish you a happy women’s day.

The Covered Girls Project

When menstruating, schoolgirls in rural Zambia would rather stay home than be uncomfortable, inactive and embarrassed due to inadequate menstrual products and hygiene management. Nsansa Village wants to ensure that the girls in rural areas have a friendly supportive menstrual hygiene management that provides absorbent reusable and washable sanitary materials.

Your support in any way is truly appreciated. Get involved in this program and help Nsansa help the girls and help schools to provide equal opportunity for all girls in rural areas.

Street Kids in Zambia to be taken off the streets Due to Coronavirus

The Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare is working with Ministry of Youth and Sport to remove street kids and beggars from streets in Zambia, to ensure they are not victims and conduits of Covid19.

Minister of Youth and Sport Emmanuel Mulenga says the exercise that begins tomorrow in Lusaka, and Saturday on the Copperbelt, will ensure that street kids are taken to Orphanages that have been identified in Lusaka and the Copperbelt.

Speaking at a joint Press Briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Mulenga said the relocation exercise should be completed within 7 days and said the street adults should stay at their respective homes and will be assisted under the Social Cash Transfer Scheme.

Mr. Mulenga emphasized that government will enforce the juvenile law and arrest those that will defy the directive to vacate the street while working with the Child Protection Unit under the Zambia Police.

Speaking during the same briefing, Minister of Community Development and Social Welfare Kampamba Chewe urged people to stop giving alms to street kids.

She said there should be no reason for anyone to stick in the streets after the relocation exercise which begins tomorrow and that people should donate to organizations as opposed to giving individual street kids.

Drought brings hunger to Zambia – Help for $10

Zambia has recently been facing severe drought do to shifting weather patterns. This has been disrupting food supplies and thus negatively affecting many people in the process. If the drought continues much longer the region is likely to enter a time of famine. BBC News-Zambia Droughts.

Here, at Nsansa Village Community Development Mission, we do a monthly health project for mothers and children under 5, many of whom are being impacted by the drought. We would love to help them during these difficult times, especially the single mothers and families of the children living on the streets. Without food at home, there is an increased risk that children will run away to search for some on the streets exposing them to many other problems.

To help mitigate malnutrition, the staple food ‘Meal meal’ can be provided at a cost of $10 per bag. This is a 25KG bag that will feed 1 person for 1 month.

New Dormitory Complete! Thank You Hitachi!

A big thank you to Hitachi for helping complete the new dormitory that can provide a new home for 32 children! The ceremony to hand over the facility did not pass quietly! There were splendid acrobatics and joyful songs sang by children who had once lived on the street but live there no longer!

There is still much work ahead as the current goal is house 200 children as well as provide counseling rooms and detoxification facilities for the children to recover for a fresh beginning. The Nsansa Village project will continue to press forward in the mission to serve the people and glorify God. We would love to have you participate with us in this great journey!
